The Review: An intense, taut, and graphic crime drama with Denzel Washington as a famous forensic detective crippled in the line of duty and rapidly turning into a cynical suicide candidate, and Angelina Jolie as a rookie on the spot with a (pretty) nose for evidence in a series of grizzly murders in New York. Tightly plotted, detailed, but red herrings abound.

A clue: pay attention to the graphics underlying the opening credits; much of the movie is explained if you can decipher what is going on during this introductory sequence. But this telegraphy is difficult to follow, so you'll probably just have to watch the rest of the movie.
