The Review: Drama/mystery based on Nelson DeMille's novel. John Travolta is an undercover officer (not unexpectedly, with a serious attitude) investigating stolen arms dealing. When the attractive enlisted daughter of a politically savvy general (James Cromwell) is found staked out nude and strangled to death in the middle of an urban warfare stage on a military base, Travolta gets a new case, and a host of suspects. Madeleine Stowe is the rape councilor who works with him, and with whom she shares a past. James Woods is excellent as the murdered woman's C.O., head of the PsyOps (psychological operations -- "mind games") unit.
This is not only a murder mystery, but also develops into a commentary on women in the military (a little less in-your-face than G.I. Jane, but only a little).
