The Review: A romantic comedy about the Holocaust? This is an odd premise that works. Roberto Benigni directs and stars in this touching story about a man who flamboyantly courts an unlikely but willing partner, and then attempts to shelter his young son from the horrors of occupied Italy in WWII. These horrors are mostly off-screen, except for one short, memorable, and especially chilling scene in the fog. One warning though: a little bit of Benigni goes a very long way. In Italian, with subtitles.
