Title: She's All That

Date Viewed: 2/20/99

The Review: Think of this as a remake of Pygmalion (G. B. Shaw) in a contemporary, up-scale high school in an affluent neighborhood. BMOC gets dumped for a vapid MTV star and, on the rebound, agrees to a bet where he will transform any arbitrarily chosen female classmate into his prom date. There's no shortage of ego here. Rachel Leigh Cook, as the designated target of his attentions, plays a superficially complex and reclusive artist, although you cannot for a moment envision her as anything less than stunning. Look for the screamingly funny episode (parody?!) of performance art.
