The Review: Clint Eastwood is starting to show his age, but it fits well this role as a cynical, argumentative, philandering, ex-drunk, occasionally rogue, investigative reporter -- a surprisingly sympathetic, if not really attractive, character. He is assigned by his senior editor, James Woods in a refreshingly different role where he actually smiles and seems almost human, to cover the execution of a convicted murderer (Isaiah Washington). Eastwood begins to look around a few corners that hadn't been turned before. Not a very complex plot, but well paced with an ensemble of good performances.
