The Review: The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show was one of my favorite shows on Saturday mornings -- indeed, of any time of day or week -- and still is, whenever it is appears on re-runs (essentially never; more's the pity). Irreverent, quirky, off the wall (out of the park, sometimes), punny, sly, ultra-witty, gloriously dopey, surprisingly literate, filled with in-jokes and throw-away lines worthy of being carved in stone -- one of the highlights of the last century. If these are your memories as well as mine, then please run, don't walk, as fast as possible out of ear- (and eye-) shot of this execrable movie.
It is unfathomable why June Foray lent her (original) Rocky voice talents to this abysmal effort, but she did. The original Bullwinkle voice (Bill Scott) died in 1985, and was spared this disaster.
I never realized Rocky was always frowning so much, but with this full size, full-screen version -- tell me it isn't so? Very disappointing. Moose and squirrel definitely do not have the magic. A waste of a good idea and a lot of potential talent. Don't bother.
