The Review: Dark, gory, action semi-horror flick. Snipes is good as Blade, a.k.a. DayWalker, a half-human half-vampire hybrid with special talents (i.e., sunlight is not fatal), rescued and trained (brainwashed?) to protect pure humans from the predations of vampires; taken from the Marvel comic series. It's been two years since we last encountered him (Blade), and in the interim he's been out searching for his missing mentor (Kristofferson). However, genetic manipulation being what it is (newsworthy), he's soon approached by representatives of the hated vampire council for a truce, to join forces to fight a greater enemy. Right, and I've got a bridge for sale.
Gory, gross, dark (not unsurprising, since most of the characters would die otherwise), incredibly bogus biology, impressive weaponry, neat high-intensity fight scenes, interesting special effects when silver nitrate or ultraviolent (sorry, ultraviolet) light encounters vampire flesh.
