The Review: Translated from the Terry McCaleb novel by Michael Connelly.
An FBI profiler working in Southern California, McCaleb (Eastwood) is running after a suspect in a particularly grizzly series of murders, when he suffers a heart attack. Two years later, he is recovering from a heart transplant when he is unexpectedly confronted by the sister of the donor (De Jesus), who enlists his investigative insight in understanding the murder that, indirectly, saved McCaleb's life. Some curious procedural details, a fascinating set of cases, and an interesting collection of characters make this a top-notch rendition of the Connelly mystery. Jeff Daniels is McCaleb's beach-bum of a next door "neighbor" -- that is, if the concept applies to boats moored in a marina -- and Anjelica Huston has a wonderful cameo as McCaleb's physician.
