The Review: Feel-good bio-pic of the Depression-era light-heavyweight boxer James J. Braddock, with Russell Crowe in yet another fascinating performance. Chameleon doesn't begin to describe his ability to wear a new character and make you believe. The Depression is a palpable, pervasive background for the descent and resurgence of this popular boxer. I'm not a fan of boxing pictures (and haven't yet seen Million Dollar Baby), but this was tolerable. Excellent performances by Crowe, Zellweger and Giamatti break through the grit.
