The Review: Kevin Carter was a South African photojournalist and one of a small "club" of journalists who would travel around the continent documenting various civil war actions and skirmishes (hence the club of the title). He came to note in the mid-1990's for his compelling (and Pulitzer Prize-winning) photographs of extreme starvation and the terrible conditions of children in the wake of these conflicts. The consequences of that fame, and the callousness imputed by an ignorant and unknowing public to his approach to journalism, had tragic consequences.
One of the 2005 Academy Award nominees for documentary short feature; others included God Sleeps in Rwanda, Note of Triumph, and Mushroom Club.
