The Review: Animated short.
In part the autobiographical exorcism of a troubled family relationship between a father and his son, in part an exploration of immigrant life in the U.S., and in part a police procedural mystery -- this is an extended fantasy dialog between the father (the moon) and the son. Multi-layered and well-crafted.
Clever animation style that interposes still photographs and mixed media with simple monochrome and colored drawings. Watchable, but only in parts, and totally uninteresting to me. This was the 2005 Academy Award winner in the category of live action short feature, a decision I can partially understand but one I disagree with. Others included One Man Band, Jasper Morello, Badgered, and 9.
