The Review: Interspersed with tidbits of historical context, this documentary tracks down some of the survivors of the nuclear bomb attack on Hiroshima at the end of World War II. The interviews and discussions are low-key, and frequently include the families and children of the survivors. The horror of the original event is surprisingly understated. The film keeps wandering back to a Peace Garden established in what is now the downtown of rebuilt Hiroshima.
One of the 2005 Academy Award nominees for documentary short feature; others included Death of Kevin Carter, God Sleeps in Rwanda, and Note of Triumph.
