The Review: A non-stop, manic romp -- the return of the colorfully insane Pirate Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) on the quest for the infamous Davy Jones' locker (Nighy -- as Jones, not the locker). Ably assisted -- as before, by ex-blacksmith Will Turner (Bloom) and governor's daughter Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) -- and pursued -- also as before, by the jealous, stuck-up prig Norrington (Davenport, giving a bad name to the entire British navy) -- they end up touring quite a lot of stormy seas and cannibal-infested islands, and awaken the Kraken.
Not quite as good as part-1 (The Curse of the Black Pearl), but no less entertaining: more convoluted, definitely much more fantastic -- in the suspension-of-disbelief sense as well as the mythos. Equally bizarre and amusingly novel supporting cast of mutants, spirit figures and hybrids, not to mention the occasional ghost, demon or sea monster.
Yet another rousing score by Hans Zimmer.
