The Review: Live action short feature.
On the train trip home from the hospital where an Irishman's wife has just died, he encounters a bizarre fellow passenger who seems determined to piss everyone off. The storytelling is rather well done, but the entire film just struck me badly, and the characters are marginally or not at all interesting or sympathetic.
This was the 2005 Academy Award winner in the category of live action short feature, a decision I clearly disagree with. It's almost as if they explicitly chose death as the theme de jour across the entire category, and selected the most annoying one for reward. Other entries included Our Time is Up, Last Farm, Cashback, and Ausreisser.
