The Review: Fluffy romantic comedy with rather morbid foundations, but positively enlightened by some intriguing nonlinear storytelling and many views of the green hills of Ireland.
Holly Kennedy (Swank) loses Gerry, her husband of only a few years (Butler), to a sudden illness and sinks into an interminable and unhealthy period of mourning. Until her birthday, when she starts to receive letters from Gerry attempting to redirect her into a more public life (all closing with the titular postscript). He apparently had sufficient time to engineer a series of future events that it seems Holly needs (and accepts) to get back onto her feet and into circulation. Don't think about it too much; the situation works -- and from it flows humor, romance and entertainment.
Decent ensemble cast, following up the archetypal large Irish family (Bates as her mother) with pair of close girlfriends (Kudrow and Gershon) and a friend (Connick Jr) who would prefer not to remain in that status. From the novel by Cecelia Ahern.
