The Review: Documentary, a retrospective from the viewpoint of pianist & conductor Leon Fleisher, about the loss of his ability to use his right hand to play. Ironically, this happened as he was beginning an acclaimed solo career, in 1965. Various ways of coming to an accommodation with the disorder, and with a dramatic change in his life, lifestyle and life work.
The most current diagnosis (focal dystonia) and the current approach to relieving the problem (botox) combine curiously.
One of the 2006 Academy Award nominees for documentary short feature; others included The Blood of Yingzhou District, Recycled Life and Rehearsing a Dream.
