The Review: Magnificent desolation -- if this phrase werenot already used,it would be an apt title for this film. It follows the downward spiral and self-destructive behavior of car salesman extraordinaire Ben Kalmen (Douglas). It's an excellent rendering of a not too likeable character -- well-defined by Johnny Cash'sopening song, eponymously titled.

Both Douglas and Susan Sarandon are very good, and there's a good supporting ensemble. But it's a bit of a downer.
