Definition: RTI
RTI \are-tee'eye\ verb phrase: ReTurn from Interrupt instruction. Mnemonic from computer machine instruction set and assembler language. Typically, a command which, depending on the processor architecture and stack structure, stops execution of the current thread of interrupt-driven processing, cleans the processor stack, and returns to the mainline code at the point the interrupt was declared. Colloquially, an geeky exclamation indicating "oops, I've wandered much too far from the primary theme I was trying to discuss, so it's time to interrupt this interruption and resume the mainstream topic."
